How to be available for the labor market

These job search requirements you need to meet

'Job search requirements' and is in a way related to the job log. 'Job search requirements' is an agreement that describes the agreed requirements for your job search. This includes the agreed geographical scope, as well as how and within which professional areas you should apply for vacancies. The agreement can be found in Self Service under the Job search tab, including 'Job search requirements'. It is part of our assessment of your availability whether you follow the agreement. 

'Job search requirements' contains and describes:

• the fields you will primarily be looking for work in.
• the geographical areas you will primarily be looking for work in.
• in which way you should look for work.
• How many jobs you should apply for per week.
• how many applications you need to upload in the job log.

You decide whether to apply for jobs in writing, in person, or by telephone, but you must apply in the manner that is customary in the areas where you are seeking employment. Use the internet, job banks, and jobnet.dk in your job search. The most important thing is not how you apply for work. The most important thing is that you apply in the way that gives you the best chance of getting the job.

If you don't have much job search experience, you may need a job search course. It may also be that you need a counseling course. We will typically talk to you about this when you attend an interview at the unemployment fund. You are also always welcome to book a counseling session with one of Min A-kasse's employees.

You must apply and be willing to work with up to 3 hours of public transportation time daily. If you live in an area with long distances to relevant workplaces, you may be subject to a four-hour daily commute rule. The same applies if you live in a geographically remote area.

Which jobs should I apply for?

You should apply for any job that you are qualified to do. Together with us, you will create an overview of your geographical and professional opportunities and make a plan for your future job search. It is this plan that we use as a starting point when you come to us for an availability interview. 

If you are insured full-time, you are obliged to look for work at full working hours according to the collective agreement. This will generally be 37 hours per week. You are allowed to look for part-time work. But not exclusively. Even if you get a part-time job, you must still look for full-time work.

If you are insured part-time, you are obliged to look for work for up to 30 hours a week.

Remember to check your mail daily

You must always be able to start work or attend a meeting the day after receiving notification from the municipality. Therefore, you must be able to receive mail and check daily to see if there is an offer for you. When you are on vacation and have notified the municipality and Min A-kasse in advance, this rule does not apply. However, you must be aware that you must be able to start work on the first working day after your vacation. Read more about the rules for vacation when you are unemployed.

It is important that you fill in the job log

According to the rules, the unemployment insurance fund and the municipality are obliged to check whether unemployed benefit recipients meet the requirements to be available for the labor market and are therefore actively seeking work. 

To be available for work, your job search must be registered in the job log every week. You also need to upload examples of CVs and applications you have sent to employers every month.

You can find the job log in the self-service under the Job search tab, and then 'Update your job log'. You register your job search by filling in the information and select 'Add' to upload specific CVs and applications. You can also access the job log and register your information via jobnet.dk

It is our job to assess whether you are available for the labor market. Therefore, we will react if you do not continuously register your job search in the job log or upload examples of your applications. You may risk losing your right to unemployment benefits if you do not keep your job log up to date. The information is necessary for us to make a positive availability assessment.

What can it do for you?

The municipality has a digital portal, JobAG, where both private and public employers can post job advertisements and search for candidates. My unemployment insurance fund receives regular information about these jobs and checks whether we have unemployed members who match the requirements in the advertisements. If your profile matches, we will notify you so that you can apply for the job.

Of course, we ensure that the job offers comply with applicable collective agreements and decent conditions before we pass them on to our members.

As an unemployed person, you will be notified when we find a match, but it is you who takes the next step. You contact the employer yourself and apply for the job.

If you have seasonal work

Do you work in an area that is characterized by seasonal work and therefore also work-free and unpaid periods? Then special availability and job search requirements apply.

• You may not reserve your labor for a specific employer.
• If you are or become unemployed, the rules state that we must first assess whether your work falls into the category of seasonal work. Next, we must assess your availability for the labor market.
• In particular, we look at whether you have applied for permanent year-round work in the rest of the labor market during periods of unemployment. In other words, other work that is not seasonal.
• If you have received supplementary unemployment benefits, you must look for another permanent year-round job to be available. Otherwise, you will not be able to receive unemployment benefits.
• In order to be available and receive unemployment benefits during the unemployment period, it is important that you do not reserve your labor for a specific employer or workplace. This is because when you're unemployed, you need to be widely available to the labor market. You should therefore apply for jobs as agreed in 'Job search requirements'.

If you need to unsubscribe from jobnet.dk

You must unsubscribe at jobnet.dk:

• if you get work for at least 14 days.
• if you are sick for at least 14 days. 
• if, for other reasons, you do not wish to be registered with jobnet.dk.

You can unsubscribe via My page on jobnet.dk.

You will be unsubscribed if:

• You are provided with unsupported work.
• you are on sick leave for at least 14 days.
• Jobnet.dk cannot obtain your address, e.g. if you are moving temporarily and have not notified the Civil Registry.
• you have not uploaded your CV within two weeks of registering with jobnet.dk. Read more about creating a CV on jobnet.dk.

You will be notified if you are unsubscribed.

No childcare options outside of the institutions' opening hours

When we or the municipality draw up "My Plan" or refer to a job, your circumstances must be taken into account. This applies, for example, if you do not have childcare or family members who can look after your children outside the opening hours of childcare facilities. However, your circumstances will only be taken into account if you have informed us or the municipality that you do not have childcare.

You should contact Min A-kasse in the following situations

You need to contact us if:

• you are sick. This can be reported via jobnet.dk.
• you are on vacation. It can also be reported via jobnet.dk.
• you change your address, temporarily or permanently.
• you are participating in a training program.
• for other reasons, you cannot be available for the labor market for a given period of time.

What is a work requirement?

If you are unemployed and a decision has been made that you are not available for work, you may be subject to a so-called work requirement.

The work requirement means that you must show that you can and want to work, and that you have actually done so. The work requirement must be fulfilled before you can receive unemployment benefits again. To fulfill the work requirement, you must:

• As a full-time insured, you must have reported 300 paid hours to the income register in a continuous period covering 3 months for monthly reports, or 276 paid hours in a continuous period covering 12 weeks for weekly or 14-day reports
• As a part-time insured, you must have reported 150 paid hours to the income register in a continuous period covering 3 months for monthly reports, or 138 paid hours within a continuous period covering 12 weeks for weekly or 14-day reports.

The work must be offered on regular pay and working conditions and without public subsidies to your salary.

If wages are reported both monthly and weekly or fortnightly, the most recent report determines which wage hour requirement you must meet. The hourly wage requirement applies to the insurance status you have at the time you apply for unemployment benefits again.

It is also possible to meet the work requirement with a total income calculated as A and B income plus profits from self-employment, which in an income year amounts to at least DKK 286,632 (2026) for full-time insured persons and at least DKK 191,088 (2026) for part-time insured persons.

You must not have received unemployment benefits in the income year in question. You can only use income years that have ended after the time when the work claim decision was made.
