If you are going on parental leave, you can receive parental benefits from Udbetaling Danmark

It is Udbetaling Danmark that pays out parental benefits and can answer any questions about your parental leave and benefits.

What do you do if you are unemployed and going on maternity leave?

As an unemployed person, you can go on maternity leave four weeks before your due date. This is also the first time we can report your maternity leave to Udbetaling Danmark in Min A-kasse.

All you need to do in relation to the unemployment insurance fund is to send us a message via Self Service, stating your expected due date and your expected date for starting parental leave. We will then make sure to report it so that Udbetaling Danmark is notified and can pay you parental benefit. You must notify us no later than eight weeks after the birth in order to receive your parental benefit. 

Remember to report your maternity leave to the job center.

If you are working and going on maternity leave

If you are in work when you go on parental leave, it is not us at the unemployment fund that you need to contact, but your employer. If you take parental leave beyond what you are fully paid for in your employment, it is Udbetaling Danmark that takes care of this.
